OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

At Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL), the Health and Safety of its employees and all other stakeholders are of principal importance and that it is paramount for every service we offer to the stakeholders. This commitment further reinforces our efforts to promote and practice safety at the highest level so that we all return home safely. FPTL acknowledges and accepts the principles and responsibilities which are embodied in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1996 and its Regulations which relates to the health and safety of workers. FPTL acknowledges and accepts the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited (FPCL) as the governing body for OHSE related activities, programs and procedures. FPTL is committed in the delivery of incident free services and safety to its customers and employees respectively and ensuring that OHS Management is strategically placed in the organizational structure so that it is fairly represented in the decision making process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Managers and Supervisors are responsible for all Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental matters in all areas under their control.

WORKERS, PORT USERS AND VISITORS AT ALL TIMES:

  • Be primarily responsible and accountable for their own health and safety while at work and/or in FPTL premises

  • Do not take any action that creates a risk or increases an existing risk that compromises their health and safety or of those around them

  • To conscientiously follow all health, safety and environment policies and procedures

  • To report any unsafe acts or conditions to their superiors

  • To report immediately any work related accident or environmental mishap

  • To co-operate and assist FPTL in complying with OHS and Environment legislative requirements

CONSULTATION

FPTL is committed to consultations between employer and employee through the implementation of a Health and Safety Committee where employees are encouraged to participate in consultations concerned with any changes that may affect their health and safety.

APPLICATION AND REVIEW OF THIS POLICY

This policy is applicable to all FPTL operations including situations where employees are required to work off-site and will be reviewed every two years.
